Improve your capacity to perform in dysfunctional, high-demand, or even toxic environments when it matters most.

This fast-moving, research-grounded, experiential-based workshop focuses on helping you make strategic choices to survive, revive, and thrive in business and personal settings. By building self and relational engagement muscles, you will be able to address tension and opportunity constructively.

Creating value and making a difference in a fast, high-change environment often involves addressing contrasting opinions and performance differences in a skilled, constructive, and sometimes courageous manner. Research indicates that almost 85% of all leaders derail due to an inability to recognize or successfully address conflict in a timely, well-practiced manner. Conversely, high-performing leaders who consistently deliver superior results, do so with a capacity to collaboratively assess and transform prickly, challenging issues into common areas of agreement and commitment. Further, they can support others as well as themselves in sustaining focus, mental aptitude, and performance in disruptive, dysfunctional settings.

This has been designed for professionals in demanding environments when stakes are high, demand is greater than capacity, and the future is uncertain.  Tips and tools are drawn from extensive research on the military, sports, and corporate settings that leverage actionable insight for sustainable, measured results and impact.

During this course, you will take the Leader Challenge Index (LCI), a 12-minute on-line instrument that will provide insights into one of five mindsets you use to interpret and engage within challenging times. These mindsets include the Protector, Problem Solver, Optimizer, Creative Strategist, and Boundary Spanner. Each mindset is different, not necessarily better or worse. Along with this will be resilience practices aimed at helping to turn tough times into better times. Key practices and mental models are drawn from the instructor’s latest book, THRIVE: When Trouble Visits! Being Your Best in Tough Times, which participants will get as part of the course.
